Today Indian ADRs: ICICI Bank dips over 1%, Tata Motors down 2.4%

Indian ADRs closed lower on Tuesday.

Among banks, ICICI Bank was down 1.34 percent to USD 50.77 per ADR.

HDFC Bank fell 0.55 percent to USD 45.40.

Among others, Tata Motors slipped 2.41 percent to USD 39.72.

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories declined 0.18 percent to USD 39.09.

However, in the technology space, Infosys gained 0.51 percent to USD 52.92.

Wipro rose 0.61 percent to USD 11.56.

What you need to know before markets open

TORONTO — The Toronto stock market was in for a positive open Wednesday as traders digested mixed earnings news from the retail sector and looked ahead to data out during the afternoon which could shed further light on what the U.S. Federal Reserve’s intentions are about raising interest rates.

The Canadian dollar was down 0.1 of a cent at 91.65 cents US.

U.S. futures were positive with the Dow Jones industrial futures ahead 40 points to 16,377, the Nasdaq futures climbed 7.5 points to 3,604 and the S&P 500 futures rose 4.7 points to 1,872.8.

Sears Canada posted a higher first-quarter net loss of $75.2 million, or 74 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $31.2 million, or 31 cents per share, a year ago. TSX rises amid further slew of retail earnings

TORONTO — The Toronto stock market was positive Wednesday as traders digested mixed news from the retail sector and looked to a run of positive earnings reports from the big banks.

The S&P/TSX composite index gained 69.06 points to 14,594.25. The Canadian dollar was down 0.31 of a cent at 91.45 cents US.

New York was also higher as traders looked ahead to the release of the minutes of the most recent U.S. Federal Reserve meeting for clues on what the central bank’s intentions are about raising interest rates.
The Dow Jones industrials jumped 143.3 points to 16,517.61, the Nasdaq climbed 23.63 points to 4,120.52 and the S&P 500 index rose 11.64 points to 1,884.67.
